Our History

A few bits of our storied past, and a few stories about our beloved founder. In a simplified timeline, it went something like this:

Paris Agency > Big Iron > Glamour > DNA Models > WinModel > AgencyMGR > Agency Solutions  

Our founder was Jerome Bonnouvrier (pictured below), whose family owned the first model agency in Paris. Jerome also helped to launch the first agency outside of Paris, in New York (FORD) and went on to launch a new agency in Paris, and another in NYC years later, which became very successful (DNA).

In the beginning, Jerome ran an accounting service for all the Paris agencies using an early mainframe computer. He was an industry leader, mentor, and trusted friend to them all. Years later, after moving to NYC, Jerome created a new software named “WinModel” (with Pierre Charpy coding), which evolved over time into the software we call AgencyMGR today.

Agency Manager is the software formerly known as WinModelWinModel and its (French-only) sister product “Models” were both based on the “mainframe (punch-card) accounting service Jerome launched and ran for years in Paris. Both systems were built on Jerome’s vast industry knowledge (including agency-specific accounting) from the earliest days of model agencies. When WinModel was created in 1997, the core was developed for the Microsoft Windows platform (thus the name), and later used as the common core for the France-only “Models” to which all the unique French employment and financial functionality was added.

In 2001, WinModel went through a big architecture change, moving to the Microsoft SQL database platform, which greatly increased speed and reliability, especially for our clients with a high number of talent and/or transaction volumes. Our French sister “Models” was moved to the same architecture soon after that.

In 2010, after the passing of our beloved founder in 2009, WinModel was re-named AgencyMGR and ownership moved to a new company of the same name. Our website was launched in 2012 as we began collaborating with several booking system providers and building our Booking LINK (“BLINK”) architecture, as well as our GLUE integration tool.

In 2015, we changed our company name formally to Agency Manager because that’s what clients were calling us and making out checks to anyway. Our core software solution remains “AgencyMGR” but in 2020, we renamed our company again to Agency Solutions. A rebranding was needed to better communicate the range of our offerings and to differentiate between the company and core software name.

Currently, we are developing the next-generation of AgencyMGR to run in the cloud. Our core service platform will soon be available in two Service Levels:

  1. Dedicated = premium business consulting, training, and support, tax filing-reporting and audit assistance, new reports and small customizations, etc. (Included in fixed monthly subscription fee.) 
  2. Self-Serve = basic application support, DIY tools, online help, etc. (Services billed additionally, upon request.)
